Giuseppe Garibaldi
(1807-1882)

Garibaldi was a patriot who created an army of volunteers. By July of 1860, they controlled most of Sicily and later started a march up the Italian Peninsula. Garibaldi decided to give his conquests to Piedmont.
Otto von Bismark
(1815-1898)
He was appointed new prime minister by King William I. He was seen as a practitioner of the polities of reality- politics based on practical matters-and disliked anyone who opposed him. His army defeated Denmark in 1864 and Austria in 1866
